Engineering the Deep: Innovation at the Frontiers of Subsea Integrity and Operations

Tuesday, 5 May
Room 610
Technical Session
Subsea is a challenging environment, but innovation can make it less so. Learn how fully electric ROVs were designed for improved efficiency and extended dive times versus hydraulic fleets. See how advanced sensing and analysis techniques were used for acoustic offshore pipelay operations, ultrasonic keel joint inspections, spectroscopic corrosion mapping of pipelines and risers, and acoustic positioning for remote control of construction equipment. Deepwater installation advances include a novel plate-spring riser support system for FPSOs that lowers top tension and enhances reliability under extreme loads, and a new sealant that addresses subsea control line integrity issues. Together, these papers showcase subsea innovations that optimize installation, extend asset life, and improve efficiency across offshore operations.
