Invited Organization - Engineering the Future of Deep-Seabed Mining: Collection, Transport, and Processing

Monday, 4 May
Room 604
Panel
The International Marine Minerals Society (IMMS) will host a dynamic 2.5-hour panel session exploring the technological frontiers of deep-seabed mining. The session opens with an introduction to IMMS and its role in advancing responsible marine minerals development worldwide. Three focused panels will follow, each featuring leading engineers and companies tackling the most critical technical challenges of the industry: nodule collection systems, transportation from seabed to surface and onward to processing facilities, and the latest innovations in onshore and offshore processing. Each 45-minute panel will highlight cutting-edge solutions, address moderator-led questions, and engage the audience in open discussion. This session will provide rare insight into the state of the art in subsea engineering, practical pathways toward commercial readiness, and the future role of marine minerals in the global energy transition.
