Greater Tortue Ahmeyim: A Blueprint for Next-Generation LNG in Emerging Markets

Thursday, 7 May
Room 306
Panel
The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project is a pioneering cross-border LNG development that unlocks 15 Tcf of gas offshore in Mauritania and Senegal. Led by BP, with partners including Kosmos Energy, PETROSEN, and SMHPM, GTA features an integrated subsea-to-FLNG solution, comprising an FPSO and the Gimi FLNG vessel. Phase 1 achieved first gas in 2024 and exported its first LNG cargo in 2025. This panel examines the technical, environmental, and geopolitical challenges of developing a mega project in a frontier basin, as well as its implications for positioning Mauritania and Senegal as emerging LNG exporters on the global stage.
