The Transformative Technology: The R&D Clause as a Pillar of Energy Development
Monday, 4 May
Room 602
Technical Session
Since the enactment of the Brazilian Petroleum Law in 1998, owners of large fields in Brazil have been required to invest a portion of their revenues in Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) projects within the country. This policy has played a pivotal role in advancing technological capabilities across the Brazilian oil and gas sector, fostering collaboration among operators, goods and services providers, and research institutions. Over the past two decades, this ecosystem has produced a broad spectrum of innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency, safety, and economic performance of offshore projects. This session will showcase successful case studies spanning the entire exploration and production value chain, illustrating how regulatory frameworks can effectively drive innovation and long-term value creation.
